Acrylic nails

Many patients come to see us with damaged nails or nails that have a fungal infection. Fungal infections can be treated and cured but will usually leave a nail that doesn’t look as it did before.

We other temporary correction of these unsightly nails using Acrylic that is bonded to the existing nail.

This treatment involves removing any loose nail and thinning and reducing the nail as much as possible. Once this is done and the area cleansed and the light cured acrylic is applied to recreate the normal shape of the nail. A number of applications of the gel are made and once completed the acrylic nail should last for a few month before needing renewal.

Orthoses, whilst they may look similar to ‘arch supports’ are special footwear inserts that are individually designed and manufactured to ease your pain and discomfort. From the specifications by your practitioner, we make the orthoses to reposition the foot structure to achieve optimum skeletal balance thereby reducing the stress and pain on the joints that are causing the discomfort.

Using a special lightweight and durable polymer composite material that has the unique ability to flex’, but unlike traditional materials always return to its set shape, it also has a greater in-built strength that allows our laboratory to use a thinner shell this taking less room in your shoes. You may have a similar foot size and problem to someone else but that does mean the same orthoses would fit comfortably or be of benefit to them.

How do Orthoses work?

As your foot sits comfortably on the orthosis it is gently and consistently directed into the optimum position allowing the foot to function correctly when walking, running and standing. With the help of the Biomechanics Clinic and a pair of  orthoses, pressure points, improper rotation of the feet and painful muscle strain are eliminated, because your feet are functioning optimally. At the Biomechanics Clinic  we make individual orthoses to fit into your shoes, in fact once you start wearing them you’ll find them so comfortable that you will wonder how you ever managed without them for so long!!
